Crowns – Dental crowns are a popular restorative option for teeth that are badly decayed, misshaped, discolored, or fractured. We also use them to restore teeth that have undergone a root canal. Crowns are typically covered by dental insurance and provide both functional and aesthetic benefits. While we also offer metal crowns, porcelain (ceramic) crowns are considered the cosmetic crown option, as they are color-matched to look like your real teeth.
Porcelain veneers – A porcelain veneer is a thin piece of dental porcelain that is fitted over an existing tooth to improve the look and function of the tooth. For the most part, patients choose veneers for cosmetic reasons, i.e., to fix teeth that are badly chipped, misshapen, or discolored. Veneers can also be used to fill in gaps in your smile. As opposed to crowns, your natural teeth remain largely intact underneath the veneers.
White fillings – Unlike old-fashioned amalgam (silver) fillings, composite (white) fillings are made from tooth-colored materials. These white resin fillings are used to fill cavities in your teeth. Resin composite fillings are an attractive, functional option to fix new cavities, and they can also be used to replace old amalgam fillings.
Cosmetic bonding – In the words of WebMD, “Dental bonding is a procedure in which a tooth-colored resin material (a durable plastic material) is applied and hardened with a special light, which ultimately ‘bonds’ the material to the tooth to restore or improve person’s smile.”
We perform bonding to repair damaged teeth and to improve the appearance of teeth that are discolored or misshapen. Compared to veneers and crowns, dental bonding is quicker and involves the least amount of tooth enamel removal. Bonding is also a less expensive option. Typically, we use bonding only for small cosmetic restorations.
Teeth whitening – Professional tooth whitening is a safe and effective way to brighten your smile. Teeth become discolored for a number of reasons, including drinking coffee and tea, smoking, and poor dental hygiene. Fortunately, today’s tooth whitening technology allow quick and affordable tooth whitening options that do not damage the enamel of your teeth. In many cases teeth can be significantly whitened in about an hour. After a quick tooth whitening visit, you leave our offices with a more radiant smile and a dramatic increase in self-confidence.
