You have a few options for your dentistry-of-choice in Happy Valley, but none match the level of expertise or quality of care that Murdock and Searle are able to provide.
The benefits of tooth whitening extend beyond simple vanity. A brighter, whiter smile will make you feel more confident, and it affects how others feel about you as well.
Studies show that when people see you for the first time, your smile is the very thing that they notice: not your eyes, not your clothes, not your hair, but your smile. So, that means that when you’re looking to make a great first impression (job interview, first date, etc.) you’ll be better off with a white smile than without.
That’s where we come in: we know how to make your smile shine. Home bleaching kits are only so effective. We have the tools and the know-how to make your teeth as white as possible, much more so than what any product you’ll find on a store shelf can do.
In addition to whitening, we also offer a variety of services designed to repair cracks, chips, breaks, and other damage.
Before we get to “how?” let’s first answer the question of “why?” First of all, there’s the aesthetic appeal of having teeth that are not broken. And then there are the health benefits: any break, crack, or chip in your enamel opens up an opportunity for bacteria to make their way into the pulp of the tooth and infect the nerve, which will require an uncomfortable (not to mention expensive) root canal.
On to the “how”: for both your looks and your health, it’s in your best interest to fix physical flaws before they lead to even worse complications. There are a number of technologies and techniques we can use, depending on your situation, to correct such flaws: veneers, caps, and bridges.
For minor cosmetic damage, we’ll use a veneer (a thin layer of porcelain or other tooth-colored material) over the front of your tooth. If damage affects the actual structure of the tooth in addition to being simply unattractive, we’ll fit a crown over the whole tooth. In certain cases, you may have a missing tooth and one or both of the teeth bordering that missing tooth have cosmetic and/or structural damage. In that specific case, we’ll use a bridge, which is a prosthetic tooth suspending in place by two attached crowns.
Of course, you can avoid most of these problems if you take care of your teeth in the first place. Brush and floss, twice a day! If you don’t do so and you end up with a cavity, we’ll fill it up with a tooth-colored composite that doesn’t contain any of the poisonous mercury you’ll find in traditional metal amalgam fillings.
